Introduction

Spiritual paths are inward journeys. They are created using the creativity of the Individual and sometimes are the product of Egregores of old, established belief systems. As more people turn away from established systems and faiths, they are finding alternatives that put their own power at the front of the spiritual effort.

Consider the work of Chaos Magick, wherein adepts utilized a variety of fictional tales to empower their spiritual work. Or the work of Temple of Set, which utilizes Lovecraftian horror at the core of some of their work. Whether or not tapestry of the belief is true, the underlying energies are certainly real.

All power comes down to the Individual and the Individual manifests through three pillars: Belief, Intent and Will.

Don’t simply take my words on the matter, you can find the truth you seek yourself. Consider something simple, resting in stillness: By sitting in mindfulness or meditation, the process draws the mind to the present moment – that perfect moment, where all is at peace. This is discussed throughout the Star Wars™ universe, and it happens to be a staple of contemplative spiritual practices (going back thousands of years).

Many spiritual groups, temples and organizations have magic and mystical practices to inspire the observer to join. These practices are practical in their simplicity. Often the level of belief required is low, and the result builds faith in the system. It isn’t the “system” that is working, it is you. Instead of having another tell you what to believe, why not discover truth in your own way?

Reality

Nothing here is dogmatic. Suggestions, guidelines and observations are provided, but none are demands. In the end, your steps are your own. Is this simply role-playing? No, of course not. I’ve sat in orthodox religions, modern faiths, occult groups, mystic societies, and through it all I’ve witnessed and been part of amazing things.

I’ve seen the so-called paranormal, manifestation of goals, visions float in the darkness and even the appearance of other entities. For so long I wondered how each of these organizations was “workable,” when each attested they were the only way to achieve these results.

In time I came to realize a great truism: It wasn’t a single truth that these systems were tapping into, but rather it was power that me (and others) brought to the work. We brought our power to the system. Our belief, intent and will made these things manifest.

Those that discovered this truth were able to harness this ability, overlapping it with known fiction, and still get result.

The Force

The Goal

What are your spiritual goals?

Do you seek visions? Do you want to learn skills of remote influence, remote viewing, or expand your sense of Self?

All these goals can be obtained. I’ve had amazing experiences that proved to myself that there is a real power accessible and that can be harnessed to such needs. There are those who have melted clouds away with their thoughts, I’ve opened portals, and I’ve seen beings in my space that shouldn’t be there. As for visions, I’ve seen things of space and time… other beings, vessels and locations. Amazing things… yet none of these benefited me or those I know. The Power (Siddhis) manifested was good in that it showed the truth of potential, it didn’t bring any of us to greater depth.

In my view (personal bias), the greatest goal of all is the one in which the Individual expands to include their greatest potential. Consider an excerpt from the site UnityWithSelf.com (quoted below):

“Imagine a string many miles long. At one end, a weight of massive proportions, holding it tight against the ocean floor, and at the other end, a flotation holding it extended to the surface. We have a string that bridges the surface
of the ocean and it’s depth. In this visual, we are the string.

At the surface is where we get caught in our emotions. It’s where life happens. Financial crisis happen at the surface, riots and political turmoil happen here. If we focus too much at the surface we become victims of life, lost in
our rage, anger and fear.

In the Deep of the Ocean is our calm center. This is the part of us that extends beyond the human form. This manifestation is raw power. As it is everywhere, its movements are limited and slow. But here there is peace, love and center.”

The Ocean metaphor is perfect and spot on.  At the top of the Ocean are the waves that are driven by external factors, and within the Ocean Deep is the stable calm.  Similarly, each of us has both the surface and the Deep aspects.  Our surface is our limited self – that human factor that is driven to make choices, but also the victim of emotionalism and prone to pain and fear.  The Deep is our nature beyond the human form – that calm that is.

My personal goal is to become the Ocean itself – its entirety, from the surface (limited self) to the Deep (Greatest/Higher/Expanded Self).  To me, this totality of Self is the True Self.  The Deep can be thought of as a Force, like The Tao, or it can be thought of as an externalized being (such a Higher Self).  Regardless how it is related to, the Deep of our Ocean is either something to become/relate to, or to gain advice from (an externalized entity).  Through this relationship my goal is about evolving beyond human limitation.

The goals of others may differ, I can only speak for myself…  that’s all any of us can do.  Putting aside all masters, guru’s and dogma we can find our spiritual own path, using our own icons, mythos and stories.
